4. truly workout more, dammit!

5. pay off debt, SAVE, LIVE!

so this past week...

we bought a new dining table.

i got a dress i will maybe have the rest of my life.

(jenn, is that dramatic? haha)

i turned 26.

wait, no...27.

i saw the faces of some of my most favorite people on this earth.

i drank a very high number of extra dirty martinis. and also learned how to finally make them!

i sang aerosmith's "dream on" in public.

i got a bunch of new music, thanks to skinner.

a 3 month old baby attended my birthday dinner.

you could say it was an amazing week.

i am thankful for the memories.

my dear sweet friend whitney got married on saturday.

ok, so here are my ideas on our bedroom. i am really excited about decorating this new place.

actually, funnnnny sidenote. my parents were in town this weekend and we decided to go by

our new place to show them. my dad checked the side door and it happened to be unlocked.

and we happened to go inside.

i was worried about this one pale blue wall in our bedroom with the color scheme i am about to share.

but if you know me at all, i am not into being matchy matchy.

yesterday, my dear sweet alexis got married to the love of her life, kyle.

it was an evening garden wedding off an unsuspecting country road near our hometown.

when i got married, i gave each of my bridesmaids

a hand painted porcelain ring dish adorned with their first initial.

(ever since then, i have wanted one of my own!)

saturday night, we went to hang out with our friends alexis & kyle.

alexis told me she had a card and a little present for me.

she wrote me a sweet little card and then placed this in my hand:

what a friend! it was such the sweet surprise for my weekend!

these darling ring dishes are designed by anne marie murray porcelain

and can be found at the most random little boutiques.

let me tell you, it was truly a labor of love for me to track these down back in 2008.

i originally saw them in a wedding magazine

but the number listed led me to a NYC boutique.

i then got the anne marie murray name from them,

which a.m.m. happens to be wholesale only.

trust me, i tried to buy directly from them and they were not having it!

i finally was able to get a listing of dallas boutiques that carried the ring dishes.

so, it has been a long road (and love affair) for me.

and now, i finally have my own little L.

i bought my 'maids ring dishes here in dallas at write selection.

alexis found my L at lawrence's in fort worth.

sofia coppola also is my favorite director.

the aesthetics in marie antoinette are overwhelmingly feminine and breathtaking.

the fashion, the food, the love, the sex appeal.

i love every moment of this film.

the title of this film scared me for years, which is why i waited until recently to watch it for the first time.

it didn't disturb me as much as i'd anticipated. which was a good thing.

the soundtrack is beyond. so is the film.

the graduate.

i've always loved this movie.

such a classic story. it really is the story in this that pulls you so close.

also, tim proposed to me right after watching this movie...

so i'm a bit of a fan.

and those last five minutes and of course, simon & garfunkel!

garden state.

my all time favorite scene resides in this film.

the party scene where they all take x. yes i know - sounds awful.

but the editing, the music, the ambiance of that scene.

you are there in that moment. a (drug free) bystander within that basement.

i'm a sucker for pretty much anything in slow and then fast motion, so you add some zero 7 and i'm in.

zach braff wrote, directed and starred.

what a badass!

the soundtrack is outstanding, as well.

PSH literally becomes truman capote in this movie.

i've watched it many times.

so much so, that i suggested we read "in cold blood" to my book club for march's book.

i got some weird looks.

nah, it's fine. i'll read it on my own time.

i used to have to sit through some of the most ridiculous movies on tv when i lived with my parents.

westerns, old black and white movies - you name it - i've probably seen it.

my mother loooooves the film, on golden pond.

she made me watch this when i was probably in my freshman year of college.

i secretly fell in love with it.

my pride didn't want her to know.

i've seen it several times since then and love it even more.

maybe i'll buy my mom this movie for her birthday this year.

i actually found it insightful.

it seems so simple, but it's actually rather profound.

i found "42" on youtube and someone had added their own touch to it.

when i was 8, it was my dream to be a ballerina.

my parents took me to see the nutcracker ballet in fort worth.

i was in pure heaven.

i haven't seen a ballet since.

until last night.

husband took me to see the nutcracker ballet at the gorgeous new winspear opera house.

we have watched this beautiful building being built over the last year.

it is gorgeous.

it doubles as lighting and as a retractable chandelier.

one minute it has expanded like in this picture. and the next minute,

it's just recessed lighting within the ceiling. amazing!

our seats were to be in the very top tier, since they were the cheap seats. :)

when we arrived at will call, they said some filming was going on

in that tier, so they were trying to shuffle everyone in those seats elsewhere.

we got shuffled into the $100+ seats about 9 rows from the stage.

not too shabby!

the artwork on the backdrops was incredible.

during the dance between the prince and the snow queen, snow began to fall on stage.

as act ii closed, snow began to fall on us!

the costumes were made with such creativity and detail.

this guy is now an addition to our mantle and Christmas decor.

of course, i managed to get a snippet of film.

the lighting is a little eh, but you get the idea.

i have found myself enamored with the ballet yet again!

today is the last day to see the nutcracker at the winspear in dallas.

however, they are moving over to the beautiful bass hall in

downtown fort worth through Christmas Eve.

a night without a cell phone

T and i decided we need one night a week without our cell phones.

last night, we went to the nasher sculpture center.

check out their site - they have some cool intro animation with several of the sculptures.

it's free every thursday evening through july.

on our way to church this morning, i spotted these darling

antique chairs in the trash pile of our parking garage.

how could someone throw these away!?

well, i am so glad they did.

i shall paint them.

and give them cute new cushions.

and they will live on my patio with the baby blue retro chairs.

there is this little thrift shop down the street off ross. there is a huge sign

out front with the above title.

my little chirp (amanda) found this absolutely ridiculously amazingly

showstopping antler table - for like $40.

seriously, folks. these things retail for about 1G. that's 1,000 big ones.
